Next Direction

Just sneaked out across country to catch an opportunity, having one of my dreams come true, exactly two weeks ago. And turned out the result did not go as well as I expected. But, thankfully my boyfriend reminded me this phrase from the book Become a Better You by Joel Osteen,

"Out of our greatest rejection comes our greatest direction. When you come to a closed door, or something doesn't work out in your life, instead of seeing that as the end, regard that as God nudging you into a better direction."

I guess there is no reason for me to give up and stop believing that something greater is coming my way.

Wear Wedding Gloves

How to Wear Wedding Gloves Properly

A pair of wedding gloves is a chic addition to your wedding ensemble, but it also could be disastrous if it doesn't match with your wedding dress. So it is important to consider the lengths, fabrics and styles carefully to select a pair of wedding gloves that corresponds with your dress best.

Formality of the Wedding

First of all, you need to consider how formal your wedding will be and then to decide whether it is necessary to wear gloves. Traditionally, if you're going to hold an ultra-formal wedding, such as a formal church wedding, then a pair of wedding gloves is a must to complement your stunning gown. Furthermore, you should know that the length of gloves is consistent with the wedding formality.
Wear Wedding Gloves

Sleeve Length of the Wedding Gown

Normally, the sleeve length of the wedding gown should be taken into consideration before choosing a pair of gloves. If you wear a dress with sleeves that end just above your elbow, wearing mid-length gloves can be a nice option. You may choose not to wear gloves if you wear a long-sleeve gown. Shorter gloves match well with dresses that have short or long sleeves, On the other hand, long elbow or above elbow length gloves look great with a sleeveless or strap-less wedding dress.

Color of the Wedding Glove

Make sure that the color of your gloves matches the color of your wedding dress. If your bridal gown is white, choose white gloves. When your gloves do not coordinate with the color of your beautiful bridal dress, they should spoil your overall look.
Wear Wedding Gloves

Fabric of the Wedding Glove

Gloves are made of various materials like silk, satin, lace and cotton. If you want your wedding dress to be adorned with a lovely pair of gloves, remember to match the fabric of your gloves to your wedding gown. For instance, if your wedding dress is made of satin, you should choose satin gloves. We also need to consider the season when a wedding is held, such as soft materials like cotton, lace, tulle and silk are popular options for summer wedding and matte cotton is the best choice in fall.

Wear Wedding Gloves

Style of the Wedding Gown

The style of the bridal gown is the most important thing you need to consider when you intend to choose a pair of wedding gloves. Keep in mind that the style of the wedding gloves should match the overall style of your bridal wear. For example, simple gloves may match well with fancy dresses and fancy gloves may look great with simple dresses. If you wear a wedding dress with a long train, a pair of lace gloves will be an elegant bridal accessory.

Prom Themes and Prom Dresses

Prom Themes Can Make Prom Dresses

Prom time is here again and you are starting to search for the perfect dress. You've looked at the latest trends. You've searched the fashion magazines to see what the celebrities are wearing to their prom. You've consulted with your friends to see what ideas they have. Yet you are still in a rut. Why not use the prom theme to come up with the perfect dress?

You can use your prom theme to choose the color, cut, style or fabric of your dress. It can also help you choose accessories to complete your prom night look. There is no better way for you and your friends to look good together than to look as though the whole night was planned around you! It's as though the fact that you were wearing a red dress with heart jewelry made them choose the theme of Love is In the Air where the room is bathed in hearts and different shades of red.
Prom Themes and Prom Dresses

Let's look at some possible examples of how you can make the prom theme and dress theme work together. Prom themes surrounding Cinderella and the Ball are always a popular theme. So, look for the glass slippers, slide on a tiara and wear a princess dress with a big skirt. We wouldn't recommend dressing as the wicked stepsisters though.

Hollywood and the red carpet are hot themes right now. Don't just look good, look like a movie star by recreating a hot celebrity look. Better yet, go vintage Hollywood. Hello Marilyn Monroe or Mae West. The paparazzi will be ready to take your picture and put you in the latest gossip column.

Prom Themes and Prom Dresses

Music themes can be trickier, but think about what kind of mood they evoke. What colors are they using with the music them? Coordinate your dress with those colors. You don't want to appear to clash with the room. For instance, you wouldn't want to wear a purple dress if the prom theme colors are orange.

Prom Themes and Prom Dresses

Your accessories can tie you to the theme as well. If the theme is "Night Under the Stars" wear a black dress and star earrings or a yellow broach to simulate the stars. If the theme is "By the Beach" wear seashells in your hair or decorate your bag with sea glass. It doesn't necessarily have to be all about the theme, but sometimes being subtle is what gets you noticed.

So, as you make you final decisions about your prom outfit, it is important to keep the whole night in mind. It's not just about what your friends are wearing or what the hottest celebrity trends are that matters. Your prom, the prom theme and prom outfit can be a complete package. Allow your prom theme to choose your prom dress.

Prom Theme Ideas

Prom Theme Ideas
Four Prom Theme Ideas

From the entrance way to the decorations surrounding the dance floor to the backdrop for the couples' pictures, prom themes help set the mood for the entire evening. Prom is a chance for seniors, and often juniors, to celebrate their last dance together, and the theme plays a large role in creating lasting memories. While some classes choose to do a vacation or party theme, others shoot for the romantic or magical.
Prom Theme Ideas

Sandy beaches and palm trees may be the items of choice in a "tropical island" prom. Coconut drinks and blue chiffon make dancers feel as though they are in a land and sea paradise. For those returning from spring break together with high school friends, this may be an excellent way to end their year together. Others may choose to have a "Hollywood" prom that embodies all the glitz and glam of the celebrity world. Sparkling diamonds and gold throws enshroud the room, while popular music and flashing lights create a club-like atmosphere on the dance floor. This theme is an excellent choice for one last "blowout" party.
Prom Theme Ideas

On the other hand, others may prefer a more couples' oriented, romantic setting, such as "An Evening in Paris". As the Eifel tower shines in the background, couples dine together on French pastries and walk along pathways lit by golden lanterns.

Prom Theme Ideas
A fake moon and starts may adorn the "sky", creating the perfect atmosphere for a final date. Still others prefer fantasy themes, such as "An Enchanted Forest". Mystical looking trees and soft colors of purple, silver, and green create a feeling of being in another world. This particular theme offers a wonderful escape from the end-of-the-year frenzy of tests and good byes. However, no matter what theme is chosen, prom can be a magical evening with the friends you've grown up with.

Perfect Prom Shoes

Perfect Prom Shoes

Tips For Finding the Perfect Prom Shoes

So you've finally found the perfect prom gown after months of searching. You can't wait until it is ready to be adorned for a night of dancing and partying. It should be a major confidence booster that you have found a prom gown you love, but what about your shoes? One of the most important pieces of any ensemble, prom shoes can really add to your overall style and the look of your prom gown. While the gown itself is without doubt the most important item, your choice of shoes can either make it or break the look as a whole. This does not have to be difficult, as long as you know a few fashion tricks which you can pick up by speaking to the professionals, browsing styles online, or looking through magazines.
Perfect Prom Shoes

Leave Room for Shoes

Make sure your shoes match and complement the color and the design of your dress and the shape of your foot. Of course you should check and see if you will be able to walk and dance in them. This will help to ensure that you find the right balance between style and comfort before you slip on your 'magic slippers' for the evening of your life.

Fashion vs. Comfort

Some girls do not have a problem with foregoing comfort for fashion, especially if it comes down to a choice between the perfect pair of shoes and a pair that are just not as nice. However, you can have both, easily. The worst thing you can do on the night is to cripple yourself and not be able to dance the night away with your friends, or worse have to kick off your shoes just so that you can walk. A pair of amazing shoes is one thing, spoiling your look is quite another.

Perfect Prom Shoes

High heels are always first choice because they make legs longer and slimmer and they also contribute to your look by forcing you to keep an upright posture. However, there are comfortable heels and there are ridiculous heels too and unless you are used to wearing six inch heels, stay away from them on the night. A two inch heel is quite adequate while giving your legs the look you want, you will also be able to save your feet unnecessary hardship.

Heeled shoes come in a variety of options, from the most popular strappy sandal to the enclosed toe shoe. While sandals are pretty and look fantastic on manicured feet, they can be hard to wear all night because they don't give a lot of support while dancing. If you opt for the more comfortable enclosed toe, make sure it has a soft cushion lining so they won't end up you giving your toes a blister.

Ballet shoes while extremely comfortable do not enhance many prom gowns. They are better suited to full skirts and generally do not look good with tight fitting dresses. So if you are going to go this route, make sure the style of your gown is suitable.

Something which should be fundamental is that your shoes be the correct size for your feet. Too large and they might fly off and embarrass you, too tight and you will live to regret it later on that night.

Perfect Prom Shoes

Wear your shoes in before the prom. Wear them at home for an hour a night so that you get used to how they feel and get used to them, and if the soles are made of leather it will give you the chance to rough them up a little so that you don't slip or skid on the dance floor.

Fashion options

Your shoes absolutely and positively have to match your ensemble. They need not be the same color, and if not, they have to be complimentary. Whites, crème, black, gold and silver are the most popular choices for evening, but again be careful that they are complimentary as you don't want your feet standing out like a 'sore thumb' on the night of the prom.

Silver and gold shoes are ideal colors for sparkling, shimmering evening dresses, while black shoes suit dark dresses superbly. White and crème shoes should be worn with caution and unless you are very good at fashion styling should be avoided if possible.

You even have the option of being able to dye your shoes to match your outfit, but be cautious. Unless you are using a professional to dye your shoes they may come out a different shade. Leather and synthetic leather shoes can be dyed as well as satin and fabric shoes. Give the person dyeing your shoes a color swatch from your gown and check that the color is what you want before he or she goes ahead with the actual dyeing process.

Unique Gifts For Guests

Unique Gifts For Guests

Unique Wedding Gifts for Guests of the Wedding

You will be getting married soon, and as such you are trying to make sure all of the plans are finalized. However, one of the things that you cannot decide on is which unique wedding gifts to choose for your guests. Consequently, what you need are some ideas to help you find unique wedding gift for your guests.

When choosing wedding gifts, cost will probably be the first consideration, and this is driven by both the cost of the items and the number of guests.

To be unique with the wedding gifts that you give your guests, it is important to first pick a theme for the gifts. It does not have to be along the traditional lines of wedding gifts. In fact, the more creative your thinking, the more unique your gifts will be.
Unique Gifts For Guests

For example, what about a beach theme? You can give your wedding guests specialized seashell favors, starfish favors, flip-flop coaster, beach chair place-card holders, and many more beach and sea related wedding gifts.

A popular wedding favor gift is a disposable camera, with the name of the bride and groom, followed by the date of the wedding on them. These are an especially fun wedding favor gift for children, since many children like to take pictures of the bride and groom.
Unique Gifts For Guests

You can also be very creative and unique with candle wedding favors.

When it comes to giving food as a wedding favor gift, a popular choice is chocolate. People generally love chocolate! You can make very beautiful and unique wedding favors from different shaped chocolates. Just a word of advice, do not give only chocolates. It will not be appreciated if your wedding guests include people who have diabetes.
Unique Gifts For Guests

Some couples prefer to offer more practical things as gifts for guests that are still unique. Perhaps the most popular example of a practical wedding gift is a ballpoint pen. Some couples might want to add a personal touch by choosing to include their favorite romantic quote.

You can also make your own wedding favors by purchasing the basic components, such as takeout boxes or organza bags and then adding to them the candles or whatever other unique wedding gifts that you prefer.
